Councillors meet today to decide on plans to build 185 new homes on Tintinhull Road, near the Brimsmore Garden Centre, in Yeovil. Applicants, Gladman Developments have categorized 65 of the homes as affordable. The meeting of South Somerset District Council’s Area South Committee takes place at the council's offices in Brympton Way, starting at 2 pm.

Local households are putting out one kilogram less rubbish for collection in black bins each week since kerbside recycling was introduced two years ago. Somerset Waste Partnership launched its 'Recycle More’ scheme in October 2020 with collections moving from fortnightly to once every three weeks. In South Somerset, the drop in rubbish left in black bins for collection has been around 14 percent or one kilogram per household per week.

Small businesses in Somerset are being encouraged to trade with the county council. The authority has changed its payment terms to pay local businesses within a week, rather than one month.
