The Pathway facility on Newton Road in Yeovil that provides accommodation to homeless people is to be permanently shut at the end of March. The facility’s managed by Bournemouth Churches Housing Association under a contract with South Somerset District Council. The Council says it’s working on a plan to find alternative accommodation for those affected by the closure.

Parliamentary boundaries are set to change across Somerset. It would mean that Somerset would have eight MPs compared to six at present. The Boundary Commission says people have the next four weeks to comment on the plans.

People who can afford to pay their heating bills are being encouraged to donate their winter fuel payment to the Somerset community foundation. As part of the ‘Surviving Winter Appeal’, grants will be donated to pensioners who are struggling with the cost of living this winter.

Businesses in Somerset are being encouraged to take part in a survey. The county's five local authorities are jointly carrying out the research to better understand and support local firms. The councils hope the survey will highlight ongoing challenges such as supply chain issues, inflation, and borrowing costs.

A long-established family-run Yeovil packaging business has changed hands. Stevens and Co on the Lynx trading estate, which began trading in Yeovil in 1896, has been taken over by Remous Print of Sherborne. All of their manufacturing will transfer to Sherborne.

A two-mile stretch of the A303 in South Somerset will shut this weekend. The road between the Sparkford and Podimore roundabouts will close from 10 pm on Friday to 5 am on Monday for work to be carried out removing a temporary bridge. The bridge has been in use as part of turning the A303 between Sparkford and Podimore into a dual-carriageway. During the closure, diversions will be in operation along the A359 and A37.
