History was made at Huish Park on Saturday, when Yeovil Town extended their unbeaten run of games to 13, smashing the previous club record of 12 games without defeat, set in 1965. The scoreline of 2-0 against visitors Dover has given Yeovil a six-point lead at the top of National League South, with a game in hand.

Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh is calling for the planned expansion of the town’s Octagon Theatre on its current site to be scrapped. He wants the site sold for residential development and the proceeds used to build a new regional theatre on the former cattle market site, off Reckleford. Mr Fysh believes with Somerset Council making big spending cuts to avoid bankruptcy, the option to build a new theatre on the cattle market site should be taken seriously.

NHS Somerset says around half of eligible people in Somerset are yet to have a winter flu or Covid jab. Both vaccinations can be booked online through NHS Somerset and are delivered at local pharmacies, vaccination centres, community hospitals, and GP practices.

A consultation has been launched in Somerset into new planning rules on biodiversity that come into force early in the New Year. The government’s Biodiversity Net Gain Planning legislation requires that when land is built nature is left in a better place with developers asked to create new habitats and green spaces to compensate for the ones eliminated when a site is developed. Somerset Council is seeking views on the new rules from the public, developers, and other interested groups. The survey can be viewed on the Somerset Council website.

Poundland has announced that its new store in Crewkerne will open later this month or early December. The store on Market Street in the former M&Co unit is one of 75 new Poundland outlets around the UK planned to open by Christmas.
