People across Somerset are being asked to take part in a new survey about alcohol use. Somerset Council says the information gathered will help improve support services and identify the barriers that prevent people from seeking help.

Yeovil's MP Adam Dance will lead a debate in Parliament today on NHS dentistry. Mr Dance says he'll press ministers for clearer timelines on planned reforms to NHS dental contracts and seek further details on how the government intends to deliver its commitment to introducing a new NHS dental system.

Drivers in Castle Cary are being warned that the closure of the B3152 Station Road will continue for several more weeks. Somerset Council says repairs to a sinkhole between Almsford Close and Victoria Gardens are taking longer than expected. The road is now scheduled to reopen on the first of July.

A Yeovil runner has been selected to represent England at a national endurance championship. Ben Mahoney, who has Type 1 diabetes, will compete in the Four Nations Backyard Ultra Championship in Northern Ireland next Saturday, taking on some of the UK's top ultra-marathon athletes.

More than fifteen hundred people attended this year's Ilminster Literary Festival, making it the most successful event in its history. Organisers say record crowds turned out during the eight-day festival, which celebrated its tenth anniversary.

A new festival is coming to Bruton later this year. Big Brue will take place in September and feature music, art and celebrity speakers. Guests announced so far include Bob Geldof, Bake Off star Prue Leith and former Chancellor George Osborne.
