A lorry driver has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after crashing into a bridge on Friday. The incident happened on the northbound M5 near Taunton, just before the morning rush hour. Firefighters had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to free the motorist. However, the driver’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Pupils and staff at East Coker Community Primary are celebrating after raising funds for the school, supported by a Team England star. Basketballer Corey Samuels held a special assembly, inspiring students and showing his medals – and led a circuit training class.
