Two Wildcat helicopters from 815 Squadron at RNAS Yeovilton have arrived in Cyprus as part of a build-up of UK military forces to protect RAF Akrotiri from Iranian drone strikes. Speaking during a visit to Yeovil, Defence Minister, Luke Pollard, said the Wildcat was ideally equipped to intercept any further Iranian drone attacks on RAF Akrotiri.
New figures show that 40 people were killed on Avon and Somerset’s roads in the last 12-months. Police say around half of the most serious accidents were caused by driver’s poor observations of pedestrians, bike riders and cyclists.
A Yeovil man has appeared at Taunton Crown Court for sentencing in connection with various sexual offences. Peter Robb, aged 43, of St Thomas Cross, was jailed for four years and three months. Robb was found guilty at an earlier hearing of various sexual offences dating back to March and April 2024.
