Plans have been submitted to convert a Yeovil pub into a school for children with special needs. Education provider, Five Rivers Child Care Ltd is asking for a ‘change of use’ on The Great Lyde Pub on the corner of Cavalier Way and Lyde Road. Somerset Council is due to make a decision on the application early in the New Year.
Work has been completed updating the sewerage system in Wincanton at a cost of £150,000. To keep disruption to a minimum and save money, Wessex Water used robots to reline the existing network of underground pipes in Church Street, North Street and Waterside Road.

The Council, who moved to new offices in the Old Magistrates Court in East Street 18 months ago, decided not to go ahead with a purchase due to the poor state of repair of the North Street building.
