A serving officer from Avon and Somerset Police, who lives in Crewkerne, is facing a prison sentence after more than one thousand indecent images of children were found at his home. James Gullis, aged 29, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, relating to the making and possession of indecent or prohibited images of children when he appeared at Exeter Magistrates Court. Gullis, a former scout leader, was bailed and will be sentenced at Exeter Crown Court on March 19th.

World Horse Welfare has reopened the Glenda Spooner Farm near Somerton following a flooding event that damaged two bungalows and a Visitor Centre. The charity says the horses on the farm are doing well and that staff has been provided with temporary accommodation.

Building 300 new homes and a football stadium in Chard has moved a step closer. It follows the completion of improvements to an access road off Thorndun Park Drive. Construction of the homes and stadium cannot commence, however, until Somerset Council has approved the design and layout of the development.

Wells Cathedral has criticised a new cap on the amount of VAT it can claim for repairs to the historic building. Under the 'listed places of worship scheme,' the cathedral can claim £25,000 to offset VAT. But when the scheme ends in March next year, the Cathedral says it will have to pay full VAT on repairs after that date.

A walk has been organised to raise funds for Dorothy House Hospice. The event is a chance for people to come together and support end-of-life care.
