Helicopters from RNAS Yeovilton have completed six weeks of sorties, protecting Cyprus from attacks by Iran. Merlin and Wildcat helicopters were deployed to RAF Akrotiri after the US and Israel began strikes on Iran in February. The Navy says they’ve flown hundreds of missions, including responding to potential threats and carrying out routine patrols.

People in Somerset who use domestic heating oil are calling on the government to regulate the oil supply industry. Around 50,000 homes in Somerset rely on oil for their hot water and central heating, which has doubled in price since the start of the Iran war. The government is providing help to people who use domestic heating oil, but only those in receipt of benefits qualify.

Patients are being invited to register at a new NHS dentist in Crewkerne. The DentistryForYou practice, located on Market Street, is due to open next month. To register as a patient, visit the DentistryForYou website and search for “new practice Crewkerne”, or call 07578 694 668.

Some of the busiest roads around Yeovil are having surface dressing work carried out today. This includes parts of the A30, A37 and A3088. The work is aimed at improving skid resistance and protecting against frost and water damage.

The head of Holyrood Academy in Chard has announced that he’s stepping down. Dave MacCormick has been in post for seven years and says he’s leaving to teach at a school overseas.
