More than a thousand people have added their names to a petition calling on Somerset Council to keep open the public toilets in Yeovil bus station. The toilets are due to close at the end of the month due to Somerset Council saying they don’t have the money to keep them open. Somerset Bus Partnership has described Yeovil bus station toilets as “indispensable”.

There’s a warning about the wide-scale selling of fake tickets to Glastonbury Festival. UK Finance says criminal gangs are using the opportunity of events being advertised as sold out to trick people into buying tickets that are fake or don’t exist. They say fake Glasto tickets are one of the biggest online scams at the moment.

The music starts today at the Shindig Festival on the Dillington Estate near Ilminster. Organisers say they’ve worked extra hard to make this year’s festival the best ever, as it will be the last one they hold.

The date of the annual town crier’s competition in Chard has been announced. It’ll be held on Saturday, June 24th with town criers from across the country taking part. Town criers will parade from the Guildhall to Holyrood Street at the start of the event.

This year’s Ilminster Flag Festival has seen a record number of flags in the town. Organisers say 112 flags are displayed on local buildings, making It the biggest show of flags in the Festival’s sixteen-year history. Ilminster Flag Festival runs to June 23rd with Ilminster Midsummer Experience being held over the weekend of the 8th and 9th of June.

In Cricket, Somerset has announced the signing of Australian fast bowler Riley Meredith. The 27-year-old will join Somerset ahead of their opening T20 Blast fixture. He's also expected to feature in some One Day Cup games and a number of County Championship matches.

The music starts today at the Shindig Festival on the Dillington Estate near Ilminster. Organisers say they've worked extra hard to make the three-day event their best ever, as it will be the last one they hold.
