A new service that makes it easier for older women to get checked for womb cancer has started in Somerset. Women who aren't currently on HRT, or stopped taking it at least six weeks ago, can now self-refer for a test through the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust website.

A convicted killer from Somerset who refuses to reveal the whereabouts of the body of his murdered wife has failed in his bid to be freed from prison. 64-year-old Glyn Razzell from Crewkerne is serving a life sentence for the murder of his estranged wife, Linda, who vanished on her way to work in Swindon in 2002. Razzell told a parole board hearing he could not reveal the location of his wife's body because he "did not know" she was dead. The Board's report concluded that Razzell was being deceitful and ordered that he remain in prison.

Avon and Somerset Police are investigating ten potential misconduct cases among its officers and staff. Investigators found fifty-six cases of potential concern on data files. Ten were highlighted as potential misconduct and a further ninety-one cases could impact on the vetting status of police officers and staff.

A Somerset woman, diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2006, is doing a skydive this weekend to raise money for the RNLI. Four years ago, Sarah Hand joined the RNLI as a volunteer after giving up full-time work.
