Somerset Council has declared "a financial emergency". It follows news that the Council is facing a one hundred million pound overspend in the next financial year. The Council’s controlling Lib Dem group agreed to declare the financial emergency at a meeting held in Yeovil.

The Dorset & Somerset air ambulance was called in to assist when a member of staff at Neroche Primary School in Broadway near Ilminster fell ill. South Western Ambulance Service say a land ambulance also attended and in the event the air ambulance wasn’t needed.

Plans to create a second traveller site at Pitney, near Langport, have been approved. The site to the north of Gore Lane will have space for a mobile home, day room and touring caravans.

Buses of Somerset are introducing extra early morning and evening bus services from later this month. The revised timetable will improve punctuality and reliability on the 51 route around Yeovil, beginning on Monday, November 27th.
