Police are appealing for witnesses to a break-in at The Crossing Café on Preston Road in Yeovil. Electrical devices, cash, and bottles of milkshake were taken in the raid that happened at around 3am on Saturday September 27th. A nearby resident reported seeing two men running in different directions from the scene. They were described as wearing dark clothes and trainers. Police are asking people in the Larkhill Road and Preston Road area who have CCTV footage to please call the non-emergency number 101.

A Yeovil Pharmacist says a 70 percent of people booking an online covid jab are not eligible this year. Ioannis Klappas says changes to the minimum age people can get the booster - from 65 to 75 - is causing confusion amongst patients. 2.4 million people were eligible for the covid vaccine in the South West last year, compared to just 850 thousand this year.

A road in Yeovil will be shut to traffic next week. St David's Crescent will be closed off at the junction with St George's Avenue for Openreach to replace a telegraph pole between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm on Wednesday, October 15th.

A Somerset MP has launched a survey to hear about the experiences of people booking and taking driving tests. East Somerset MP, Anna Sabine, says the current waiting time of 22 weeks to take a driving test is having a big impact on people in rural communities.

A former doctor in Chard has won through to the semi-finals of BBC Mastermind. Peter Glanvill appeared on the quiz show on Monday this week answering 10 questions correctly on his specialist subject of the Jurassic Coast. In the general knowledge round, he answered another 10 questions correctly to make a final score of 20. The BBC has yet to say when the semi-finals of Mastermind will be recorded.
