    A new school for children with special needs has opened at Ash on the outskirts of Yeovil. Hill View School on Main Street provides places for 60 students, rising to 120 by 2026 and catering for girls and boys with social, emotional and mental health needs.

    A hundred Ash trees in Ham Hill Country Park are to be felled due to Ash dieback. The disease has weakened the trees meaning they now pose a safety risk to the public. 

    The South Western Ambulance Service is holding its Annual Members Meeting in Ilminster next week. It’s open to everyone, and takes place on Wednesday, September 18th, at Monks Yard in Ilminster, starting at 10 am. 

    It's National Air Ambulance Week with our local service, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, looking to raise much-needed funds. The charity says each call out of its helicopter costs around three and a half thousand pounds. 

    The Brewer's Arms in South Petherton recently reverted to charging 1994 prices to celebrate landlord Duncan Webb's 30 years behind the bar, selling pints for just £1.55.

    Yeovil Town are back in action tonight when they take on Solihull Moors in a National League fixture at Huish Park, kick-off is at 7.45.
