A 36-year-old man remains in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of a sexual assault in Yeovil. It follows an alleged incident in which a woman claims she was assaulted at the junction of Milford Road and Melrose Road at around 9.30 pm on Sunday. Police are trying to trace the driver of a small green car seen in the area at the time. If you can help or you saw what is alleged to have happened, you’re asked to please call the non-emergency number 101.

Yeovil Labour Club, also known as Unity Hall, on Central Road in Yeovil town centre, has had its drinks licence revoked. Somerset Council’s licensing subcommittee south decided after being told about multiple reports of alcohol misuse and antisocial behavior on the premises. The Club has been given a list of measures to take, including installing a new CCTV system and keeping records of alcohol sales, before it can reapply for the licence.

NHS Somerset has been taking its physiotherapy team around the county, bringing the service closer to people, to cut waiting times for patients. So far, community sessions held in Bridgwater and Somerton have treated around five hundred patients.

A Chard woman has appeared in court charged with stealing alcohol from a supermarket in the town. Magistrates in Yeovil were told that Kirsty Guppy of Silver Street in Chard stole seven bottles of alcohol from Sainsbury’s in Chard. Guppy, who pleaded guilty to the offence, was ordered to pay Sainsbury’s £114 in compensation.

South West Coaches says a new stop-off at Castle Cary railway station has been included in its number-1 service between Yeovil, Sparkford, Evercreech and Shepton Mallet. A new turning area has now made it possible for the number one bus to pick up and drop off passengers at Castle Cary railway station. Previously, buses were unable to access the station, leaving passengers with a disconnect between rail and bus travel.

A men-only cooking course has been launched in Sherborne. Run by the Friendly Food Club in partnership with Sherborne Food Bank, men are offered the chance to learn basic cooking skills with all ingredients, equipment and utensils provided free of charge.
