The government is being asked to help fund Somerset's carnivals. Carnivals generate millions of pounds for Somerset's economy. But Lib Dem MP for Somerton and Glastonbury, Sarah Dyke, says rising costs and over regulation are putting carnivals at risk.
Bridgwater Town Council wants more trains to stop at the town’s railway station. The council says Bridgwater, which is on the Exeter to Bristol line operated by Great Western Railway, misses out regular train stops compared to Taunton. which has more direct trains.
A national research centre into lowland peatlands could be built in Somerset. Somerset Wildlife Trust has submitted plans to locate the centre at Honeygar Farm on the Somerset Levels.
