Police are appealing for witnesses to a ‘hit and run’ in Henstridge in which an 8-year-old boy was knocked off his scooter. It happened in Furge Lane at 5 pm on Thursday, March 13th when the boy was struck by a car and the driver drove off without stopping. The boy was treated for superficial injuries at the scene. The driver of the car was later traced to Sherborne where he was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. The charity Brainwave has thanked people for their support after their medical centre in Bridgwater was targeted by vandals. Paint, stolen from a storeroom, was thrown across the front of the building and also splashed on a parked car.

Somerset Council has waived the fee of £190 in the hope of encouraging people to hold street parties during the week of national celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day from Monday, May 5th to Sunday, May 11th.
Motorists are being advised that a number of roads are closed in Yeovil town centre at the moment.
