Yeovil MP Adam Dance says people are still worried about plans to move hyper-acute stroke services out of Yeovil Hospital. His comments follow news that NHS Somerset has delayed closing the hyper-acute stroke unit in Yeovil due to staff shortages at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton and Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester. Mr Dance says twelve thousand people have signed a petition against the closure and that the Yeovil unit should be kept open.
A former Avon and Somerset Police officer has been jailed for making indecent images of children. Exeter Crown Court was told that Michael Elmer, aged 36, was arrested in May last year by the force’s child abuse team. He was jailed for 13 months and made the subject of a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
A temporary 40 mph speed limit is being introduced on roads in Ilminster. The lower limit will apply on the B3168 through Puckington, Stocklinch and Ilton while repairs are carried out to a damaged structure, between Monday, 27 April and Friday, 15 May.
