New data from the UK Health Security Agency shows the South West has the highest childhood vaccination coverage in England. The region is outperforming all other commissioning counterparts on all six reported vaccines - including meningitis B, measles and polio.Most notably, coverage of the first dose of the new MMRV vaccine, which protects against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox, reached 83% in the South West for children aged 15 months, compared to a national average of 78.8%.
Somerton now has a post office - four years after the previous one closed. It opened last week after people in the town campaigned for its return. The new enterprise is being run by Malcolm Adams from the appropriately titled Stationery House.
Meanwhile, Bridgwater Library reopened its doors yesterday after a 6 month closure for roof repairs. The building on Binford Place in the town has also had new skylights installed and has been redecorated.
