    Police and Crime Commissioner, Mark Shelford, says Somerset’s CCTV network is vital to keeping the public safe. His comments come ahead of a meeting of Somerset Council on January 15th at which plans to end funding the CCTV network will be discussed. If the cutback is agreed, cameras in Yeovil and other towns in Somerset would be turned off, and the main control centre in Bridgwater shut down. 

    A Chard woman has been jailed for fourteen weeks for stealing alcohol from a supermarket in Chard. Appearing before local magistrates, Chelsea Fouracre, of Old Town, in Chard pleaded guilty to taking £1,000 worth of alcohol from Sainsbury's in Chard over nine days. Fouracre was also found guilty of three counts of using threatening behaviour, which she had denied.

    Citizens Advice Somerset claims the cold weather is putting extra pressure on people struggling with the cost of living. A cold weather health warning -- issued by the UK Health Security Agency and Met Office - is in force for Somerset until Friday. 

    Montecute House near Yeovil is currently closed to visitors for filming a period drama. The National Trust says that due to a confidentiality agreement, they can’t say what the filming is for, or which actors are performing.

    A road in Crewkerne will close for five days next week. Severalls Park Avenue will shut from Monday the 15 to Friday the 19th of January for Wessex Water to carry out supply separation works.
