Bus passengers in Yeovil have been provided with easier access to the town's bus station following the completion of work at Glovers Walk. The final phase of demolition has reopened the link between Middle Street and the bus station, creating a clearer and more accessible route for travellers. Bus stops are also being updated with improved information to help passengers find the right service and benches have been reinstated. Somerset Council says it's working with local community groups on temporary uses for the area, while longer-term redevelopment plans are drawn up.

Firefighters are warning of an increased risk of wildfires because of the hot weather. Natural England has issued "exceptional" and "very high" wildfire risk warnings for Somerset as the heatwave continues. Mark Humphry farms near Ilminster and is chair of Somerset NFU. He says the high temperatures are creating an extra risk of farm machinery - including combine harvesters - catching fire.

A new NHS dental practice has officially opened in Crewkerne. The surgery, on Market Street, is run by Crewkerne Dental Care and was opened by local MP Adam Dance. It's the third new NHS dental practice commissioned by NHS Somerset to open in the county since October last year, following previous openings in Wellington and Chard.

And Aldi is asking for public comments on plans to build a new food store in Chard. The supermarket chain wants to develop the former Oscar Mayer factory site. The proposed store would have a sales area of 1,100 square metres, create 40 local jobs, and include 100 parking spaces. The consultation is open now on Aldi's website and closes on August the 2nd.
