A Yeovil man has been jailed for four years for committing sexual offences against two young girls. Connor Chard, aged 22, appeared for sentencing at Taunton Crown Court after previously admitting three counts of assault between 2019 and 2024. Chard was also given a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Plans have been approved to convert a pub in Milborne Port into housing. The Tippling Philosopher on the High Street closed at the end of 2024 and will be turned into three separate properties.
A crowdfunding appeal has been launched to fund a legal challenge against building 27 homes at Foxes Run on South Street in Castle Cary. The scheme was originally turned down by Somerset Council but following an appeal, the Planning Inspectorate has given it the go-ahead. The funding appeal has been organised by Castle Cary councillor Henry Hobhouse, who wants the Inspectorate’s decision subjected to a judicial review.
