Police have arrested two suspects in connection with a series of moped thefts in Chard. The arrests follow the recovery of two mopeds stolen from the town over the past six months. South Somerset Neighbourhood Police have thanked the public for supporting their investigation and are asking anyone with information about vehicle thefts in Chard to call the non-emergency number, 101.

A combine harvester has been destroyed in a farm fire at Forton, near Chard. Crops covering an area of around one hundred metres by seventy metres were also lost in the blaze. The fire service is reminding farmers of the increased risk of machinery fires during harvest time and is urging regular maintenance, together with carrying fire extinguishers on agricultural vehicles.

A spinal injuries service at Yeovil Hospital has treated more than three hundred patients in its first year. The outpatient clinic, which opened in May last year, is the first spinal service at the hospital.
