Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic accident near Chard, which left one person with life-threatening injuries. It happened when a grey Seat car travelling from Corfe towards Yarcombe on the B3170 collided with a blue Seat at the junction with Royston Road, in Waterford, at around 7.20 pm on Wednesday, June 11. If you witnessed the crash or have dashcam footage, you’re asked to call the non-emergency number 101.
Texas Rocks in Middle Street, Yeovil, has closed temporarily following a major fire. The kitchen and upstairs eating area were left badly damaged in the blaze that broke out on Tuesday night. People with bookings, including for Father’s Day, are being contacted.
The government's announcement of spending £39 billion on building social housing over the next 10 years has been welcomed by the housing association Stonewater. However, Matt Crucefix, Director of Development at Stonewater, says that for the government to achieve its housing building targets, it’ll need to relax the planning rules for building on brownfield sites.
It has been confirmed that Wellington is to regain its train station. The £15 million needed to rebuild the station will be provided through the government’s spending review. Wellington station was closed by Doctor Beaching in the 1960s.
