    The A303 through South Somerset has topped a list for being the most congested ‘A’ road in the County. Based on Department of Transport data, vehicles were held up for 51.2 seconds for every mile travelled on the A303 between the Cartgate and the Podimore roundabouts. The figures are contained in the Road Delay Report.

    A trial programme to reverse type two diabetes cases in Somerset has seen 100 people complete the year-long course. Although remission isn't guaranteed doctors hope it will reduce the need for medication. 

    A school in Sherborne that provides alternative education to students unable to attend a mainstream school has been rated ‘Good’ following an Ofsted inspection. The Harbour Vale School, on Simons Rd, previously known as the Sherborne Learning Centre, was rated as ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted.

    The organisers of the Glastonbury Festival are urging people to "love the farm" and "leave no trace" when they descend on Worthy Farm in two weeks. Around two hundred thousand people are expected at the five-day event that starts on Wednesday, June 26th. They're being asked to bring sturdy camping equipment that can be taken home and reused. Last year, one in every fifty tents was left behind on the festival site..

    If you’re not registered to vote in the upcoming General Election, then you have until Tuesday, June 18th, in which to do so. The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is Wednesday, June 26th. Applications can be made through the Somerset Council website.

    South Petherton will be awash with musicians and street dancers this weekend with the staging of the annual Petherton Folk Fest. The lineup includes The Dambuskers, Owl in The Sun, and Rachel Hill. The event is free to attend. 

    Campaigners will be in Yeovil town centre tomorrow collecting signatures for a petition to stop the closure of the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit at Yeovil Hospital. Members of Quicksilver Community Group will be in The Borough with a stall between 10 am and 4 pm.
