Yeovil Town has dropped the idea of letting fans drink alcohol inside Huish Park on match days. Drinking alcohol inside grounds is allowed at clubs in National League South and Yeovil had planned to allow fans at tomorrow's home game against St Albans to bring alcohol into the stadium. But following concerns raised by Manager, Mark Cooper, about fans getting rowdy and unsettling his players the club says alcohol inside Huish Park will not now be permitted. Fans will be able to buy alcoholic drinks as normal before and after the game at bars outside the stadium.

Around sixty jobs are at risk at the Wilko store in Yeovil following the company’s collapse. Nationally, twelve thousand jobs could go with the closure of up to four hundred Wilko outlets.

The NSPCC in Somerset is predicting an increase in calls to its helpline this summer, particularly from those concerned about a child left at home unsupervised. The charity says while there's no legal age limit for leaving a child on their own the government guidance says children from newborns to three should never be left unsupervised, even for only a short time.

Funding's been given to an organisation in Somerset that helps injured and sick military veterans get into motorcycle racing. The charity ‘True Heroes Racing’ is based at RNAS Yeovilton and has been given money to support its work by the contractors dualling the A303 at Sparkford.

Ilminster Town Council is appealing for the return of a waste bin that’s disappeared from alongside the Shudrick stream at Ladymeade. They say that until the bin is returned, people in Ladymeade should take their litter home with them.
