    The ambulance service in Somerset says it is taking longer than ever to hand over patients at local hospitals. Work to smarten-up the look of Yeovil town centre has moved into Wine Street. Residents in Keinton Mandeville are being asked to comment on plans to build 120 new homes on a greenfield site. Friday, November 19th sees the Christmas lights in Ilminster being officially switched on at 7 pm.     The ambulance service in Somerset says it is taking longer than ever to hand over patients at local hospitals. South Western Ambulance says its vehicles are queuing for long periods at hospital entrances with delays in providing medical treatment to patients.

    Residents in Keinton Mandeville are being asked to comment on plans to build 120 new homes on a greenfield site at the Western edge of the village. Developers Land Value Alliances is running a community consultation on the proposed development that would include up to 42 affordable homes.

    Work to smarten-up the look of Yeovil town centre has moved into Wine Street. The road linking through with the Borough is being permanently pedestrianised. Meanwhile, work to create an amphitheatre with a large TV screen at The Triangle in Lower Middle Street is due to start later this month. 

    Homes2Inspire, the organisation running services for children in care in Somerset, claims the county is leading the way in children’s services nationally. £70 million is being spent by County Council building small-scale children's homes and other support across Somerset. The project is being delivered by Homes2Inspire in partnership with the County Council. 

    Friday, November 19th sees the Christmas lights in Ilminster being officially switched on at 7 pm. There’ll be a funfair, food stalls and a children’s choir will perform in the Market House.

    A dress made for Amy Winehouse by Ilminster-based dress designer Alice Temperley has sold at auction in New York for £90,000. Amy Winehouse wore the dress at a concert in Hyde Park in 2008. Proceeds from the sale have been given to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, a young people's charity set up by the singer's parents after her death in 2011.
