    A speed limit review has been carried out on a stretch of road between Castle Cary and Evercreech, following years of serious accidents – some of which have been fatal. The sharp bend on the A371 at the Pecking Mill Inn currently has a national speed limit of 60 miles per hour. 

    The Met Office has put two separate yellow weather warnings in place for Somerset this weekend. They tell us that we should expect strong winds throughout the day today and that Saturday will be unseasonably windy. Yeovil and South Somerset is expected to be particularly affected, alongside coastal stretches – with predictions of 50 mph winds on higher ground and surface water across the area.

    A council-owned Somerset farm has been sold off by officers in a bid to save public money. Somerset Council recently confirmed that it would be selling Dunpole Farm and the neighbouring Magnolia Cottage in Sea, near Ilminster.

    Staff at a restaurant near Chard are celebrating after being included amongst the 100 best local eateries in the Good Food Guide 2023. The Cotley Inn in Wambrook has been included on the annual list after what’s been described as months of nominations, inspections and deliberations.
