An appeal for witnesses has been issued, following a knife attack in Yeovil’s Ninesprings Country Park. The victim was walking along the footpath on August 30th between 7.30 and 8 pm when he was attacked by what’s being described as a “bladed article”. He was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The suspect is described as aged between 16 and 18, approximately 5 foot 10 inches to 6 feet in height, of slim build, with a full, thin beard and wearing a black tracksuit. You’re being asked to call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously if you can help.

Somerset’s newest MP has been sworn into Parliament. Sarah Dyke won Somerton and Frome for the Lib Dems at the end of July but she’s had to wait until this week to take her place in the House of Commons.

Library users in Somerset can borrow more than just books from this month. The NHS is loaning out blood pressure monitors from some branches and hopes it’ll encourage people to check their blood pressure at home. Identifying patients with hypertension could prevent heart attacks and strokes.

A brand new nail and beauty salon is opening in The George Shopping Centre in Crewkerne. The Lacquer Lounge opens its doors on October 7th and is promising an open day with drinks, nibbles and goody bags to celebrate the venture.
