Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a woman reported being assaulted by a man who took her gold necklace in Yeovil. It happened in Stars Lane, between 2 am and 4 am on Sunday 23 October. The woman, in her 20s, told officers a man punched her and pulled the chain and pendant from her neck. She has described him as clean-shaven and wearing a white t-shirt. If you were in Stars Lane in Yeovil at around that time and saw a man matching the description, please call the police non-emergency number 101.

Unison in Somerset says its members working for the NHS won’t be able to survive this winter on what they are paid. This is despite NHS staff being given an average 4.75 percent pay rise, with more to the lowest-paid workers. Unison is currently balloting its members on strike action.

A charity that helps refugees and asylum seekers in Somerset is expanding its services. ‘Charis’ helps people by providing English lessons and help with writing job applications and applications for college courses and housing.

The owner of Yeovil Town, Scott Priestnall, has publicly thanked former manager, Chris Hargreaves, for his work at the Club. Hargreaves left Huish Park yesterday after just five months in charge following a run of poor results. Radio Ninesprings understand that Mark Cooper, formerly manager of Forest Green Rovers and Swindon, is the favourite to take on the manager’s job at Huish Park.

Court Barton in Ilminster is closed to traffic today to allow for Wessex Water to carry out works to renew a stop tap.
