    A Yeovil man has been jailed for fourteen years for causing death by dangerous driving. Parents in Somerset are being urged to check whether their children are up to date with the MMR vaccine following a rise in measles cases.     A Yeovil man, who admitted causing a fatal road crash near Beaminster, which also left two other people with serious injuries, has been jailed for fourteen years. Shane Bovey was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court after admitting causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving at Mosterton in February. He was also disqualified from driving for ten years, with the ban to start when he's released from prison. Nicole Bowden died from injuries she received in the crash. Her daughter, Emily Fox-Williams, remains under treatment in hospital. 

    Parents in Somerset are being urged to check whether their children are up to date with their MMR vaccine following a rise in measles cases. So far this year, six cases of measles in children in the South West have been confirmed. 

    Dog owners in Somerset are being warned to be aware of a parasite that can be fatal to dogs if left untreated. Lungworm is passed on by snails and slugs and can cause a range of health problems. 

    The Mendip Hills are one of five areas to become a National Nature Reserve to mark the King's coronation. Natural England says it will leave a lasting public legacy for people and nature. 

    Chard Fire Station has reported that April was one of its busiest months ever. The station handled thirty emergency fire calls, one animal rescue, one flooding incident and two road traffic accidents.
