    Yeovil MP, Marcus Fysh, says rural bus routes in Somerset may have to run on the lines of Uber taxis if they’re to have a viable future.     Yeovil MP, Marcus Fysh, says rural bus routes in Somerset may have to run on the lines of Uber taxis if they’re to have a viable future. Mr. Fysh is concerned about the fall-off in passenger numbers and the high costs of subsidizing rural buses. He says the future for public transport services in rural places lies in them becoming more ‘on demand’.

    Talks are underway with the Somerset FA to launch a new women’s football team at Yeovil Town. It follows the departure of the former Yeovil Ladies Team from Huish Park to Bridgwater Town in 2021. 

    A pub near Castle Cary is to be demolished to make way for a small housing development. South Somerset District Council has approved plans to knock down The Pilgrims Rest Inn at Lovington to build five houses.

    A footpath at Holyrood Academy in Chard has been renamed in honour of a long-standing teacher. The path that leads to school grounds has been named Wheatley Way in memory of Jacqui Wheatley who died last year after being a maths teacher at Holyrood for twenty years.

    A Chat Café has opened in Wincanton for local people to come together and socialize in a warm space. Run as part of the Wincanton ‘Good Stuff Project’, the Chat Café is held at Balsam Centre every other Monday between 10 am and midday, everyone is welcome.
