Wessex Water has been told to report on the number of times it releases sewage into local rivers. It follows the Environment Agency’s move to keep a closer watch on the use of storm drains.

A Chard man is raising thousands of pounds to buy his father a bionic arm. Del Crump lost his arm in a work accident 20 years ago. His son, Jake, says he’s raising the money to buy the bionic arm as a ‘thank you’ to his Dad for bringing him up.

A project has started to improve the diversity of habitats within Yeovil Country Park. Yeovil Rivers Community Trust has been given a grant of £6,000 to introduce aquatic benches, re-profile the bank sides, and make better the existing habitats at Dodham Brook at Ninesprings.

A Covid vaccine centre in Crewkerne is seeking volunteers for next week. The Covid hub at the Henhayes Centre is looking for volunteers to act as ‘meeters and greeters’ as people arrive for their jabs. If you’d like to volunteer, you should call the Henhayes Centre in Crewkerne.

A Chard painting and decorating business has won a top national award. ‘Bates and Misons’ run by Rachel Bates and Luke Watts came first in the 2021 Dulux Paint Awards for the work transforming the look of ‘Pip’s Railway Carriage Café’ at Lopenhead.

Yeovil Town’s game this weekend has been called off. The Glovers had been due to play Aldershot away on Saturday. The decision to postpone the fixture follows the death last week of the Yeovil Town Captain, Lee Collins.
