    A new scheme’s been announced to help provide better mobile phone reception in rural areas of South Somerset. It’s aimed at persuading homeowners and business owners to fit wireless signal booster onto their properties in return for being paid £800. The scheme’s being run by Frequency Telecom.

    A woman in Curry Rivel in South Somerset is helping to provide coronavirus vaccines to Third World countries. 'Twin My Vaccine' run by Rowan Patterson is raising funds for the charity UNICEF who are rolling out vaccines across Africa. 

    A specialist animal rescue team has been used to free a cow after it became stuck in a river at Huish Drove at Langport. The fire service say the animal was rescued unharmed and later returned to a nearby farm.

    Plans have been submitted to build 80 new homes in Wincanton. The development would be on land at Lawrence Hill, close to the new McDonald’s restaurant. Abbey Manor Homes Ltd who are behind the scheme also plans to build new industrial units on the site and say the scheme meets the local need for more housing and demand for local employment as the town of Wincanton grows.

    Filming has been taking place for the latest in the ‘Doctor Strange’ franchise at Burrow Hill Cider Farm at Kingsbury Episcopi near Martock. ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ with Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role is the sequel to the 2016 release of Doctor Strange and is due for release in March of next year.
