Some bus routes in Yeovil and around South Somerset won’t be running as normal today due to strike action by members of the RMT union. The stoppage is the latest in a long-running dispute over pay involving drivers and other staff at First South West. Passengers are being advised to check what buses are running before they leave home.
Yeovil College has signed up with Leonardo Helicopters in Yeovil as a Community Member of its AW149 Team. Leonardo is bidding to win a £1.3 billion pound contract to supply the AW149 to the UK Armed Forces, with Yeovil College now on board through its apprenticeship scheme backing the bid.
Yeovil Town Football Club says its stewards and volunteers are being subjected to abuse on match days. The club says it has a zero-tolerance policy to abuse and those found responsible could face exclusion from Huish Park. The club has thanked the Green and White Supporters Club, the Disabled Supporters Association and the Cary Glovers for their co-operation in dealing with the problem.
