The Head of Preston School in Yeovil says children vaping at his school is on the increase. Gregg Morrison is concerned about how easy it is for young people to access vaping products, and is calling on parents to help tackle the problem. He’s installed sensors at Preston School to identify when students are vaping.

Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh says he’s backing Liz Truss to be the new leader of the Conservative Party and next Prime Minister. The Foreign Secretary came third in yesterday’s first round of voting with 50 MP’s backing her candidacy.

South Western Railway is asking passengers not to use the alarm button on trains unless it’s an absolute emergency. It follows an incident in which a passenger rang the alarm because they’d left their luggage on the platform. In the last six months, South Western Railway say 39 hours of delays were caused by the misuse of the emergency alarm button on their trains.

Increasing numbers of young people in Somerset are being treated for eating disorders, according to NHS Somerset. Figures show that since 2019 the number of young people needing treatment for eating disorders almost doubled.

A protest to stop a giant oak tree being felled at Sparkford has entered its second week. Campaigners moved onto the site earlier this month claiming the tree is ancient and should be kept. National Highways say the tree is between 60 and 100 years old and needs to come down to make way for dualling the A303 at Sparkford.
