The NHS in Somerset is asking people to check they have enough medication to get them through the Christmas period. GP’s say
ordering a repeat prescription could be delayed with surgeries closed on Monday, December 26th, Tuesday, the 27th, and Monday 2nd of January.

A Somerset woman is asking people to donate to this year’s Christmas Appeal at St Margaret's Hospice. St Margaret’s is seeking to raise £25,000 through public donations to help run its services. Karen Cooper, whose mother was cared for by St Margaret’s before she died, says she has nothing but praise for the work done by the charity.

A member of Street Cricket Club has been named in the England Women’s under 19, T20 World Cup team. Niamh Holland, aged 18, who lives in Low Ham, will fly out to South Africa in early January to take part in the competition.

It's hoped changes to the rules on holiday lets, with the government introducing a registration scheme for the sector, will enable more people to rent and buy homes in Somerset. In the last three years, around 400 properties in Somerset have been turned into holiday lets, bringing the total in the County to nearly 1500.

A woman from Ilminster has been presented with a long service award by the British Red Cross. Pippa Hamilton received her certificate for the five years she has worked as a Transport Support volunteer, giving her free time to drive people to doctor and hospital appointments. Robin Williams, David Penny, Gordon Knight and Wayland Chan have also been given long service awards by the Somerset branch of the British Red Cross.
