Friends of former Yeovil Town captain Lee Collins have criticised the Professional Footballers Association for a lack of support to struggling players. Lee took his life earlier this year. In an open letter to the PFA, they claim there’s "a lack of player wellbeing, mental health and post-retirement support" for the union's members.

Work is underway to prepare Somerset for accepting refugees from Afghanistan. The County Council is appealing for private landlords and those with self-contained accommodation to come forward with offers of housing.

The woman appointed to lead Avon and Somerset Police temporary basis says she'll apply for the top job permanently. Sarah Crew was named Acting Chief Constable last month after Andy Marsh stepped down. She's the Constabulary's first female Chief Constable.

Taking away the bins has reduced the amount of litter around Ham Hill Country Park near Yeovil. The park made the decision to remove the bins after struggling for years with rubbish being dumped and fly tipping by the public.

Beaminster Tunnel on the A3066 at Beaminster is closed today for essential works. Both tunnel entrances will stay shut until 7 pm with diversions in operation.
