    The DNA of apples is being studied in Somerset in a bid to develop new and better ciders. Cider makers, Thatchers are working with the University of Bristol to create new varieties of apples while preserving under threat current varieties. 

    It’s been announced the new McDonald’s on Sherborne Road in Yeovil will open on Wednesday, November 3rd. Forty new jobs have been created with the opening of the new restaurant and drive-thru next to Pittards. 

    Local cheesemakers, Wyke Farms of Bruton, have been congratulated by the Prime Minister for producing what’s claimed to be the world’s first carbon-neutral cheese. Boris Johnson made his comments after a colleague MP mentioned the carbon-neutral cheese during a debate on COP26 in the House of Commons,

    Chard man, Chris Williams, has won a top award for fitness. Chris was voted ‘best in class’ in the over-45’s section at the International Bodybuilding and Fitness Association Finals in Newcastle. 

    People in Somerset who've lost loved ones are being asked to remember them online. St Margaret's Hospice is holding its 'Light up a Life' event virtually to remember people who have died over the past year.
