    Police are appealing for information about an attack in which a man sustained serious injuries in Yeovil. Concerns been expressed about increased traffic when McDonalds open a new restaurant on Sherborne Road. People aged over 60 are now being invited for their first Covid vaccination in Somerset. Farmers who have electrified fences are being ask to check that they are correctly identified.

    Police are appealing for information about an attack in which a man sustained serious injuries in Yeovil. The incident happened in Manor Road, opposite the Octagon Theatre, between 6 and 8 pm on Tuesday night. The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was used to take the injured man to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.     Concerns been expressed about increased traffic when McDonalds open a new restaurant on Sherborne Road. The burger chain is converting the former F J Chalk garage building into a restaurant and drive-thru. In a letter to local planners, Pittards Leather, who’s factory is next door, say inadequate provision has been made for traffic exiting McDonalds via Flushing Meadow on to the A30. Pittards suggest a remedy could be to create a different entrance and exit onto the A30, controlled by traffic lights.

    People aged over 60 are now being invited for their first Covid vaccination in Somerset. NHS Somerset says people aged 60 to 64 will receive their invitations this week. Anyone age 65 and over who hasn't had a jab is being asked to book an appointment online.

    Farmers who have electrified fences are being ask to check that they are correctly identified. It follows reports of a dog suffering a ‘nasty electric shock’ after coming into contact with farm fence in North Coker. The dog’s owner claims there were no warning signs on the fence. Somerset County Council says warning signs should be displayed at fifty metre intervals along the length of an electrified fence. (Story courtesy of Somerset Live)

    Fire has destroyed a garden shed in Crewkerne. It happened in Brickyard Lane in the early hours of yesterday (Wednesday).
    No one was hurt.

    It’s been announced that the Carnival in Castle Cary is to go ahead this year. The Castle Cary and Ansford Carnival Society says it was a difficult decision to put it on but they have the funds to do it. The parade will take place on Saturday 16th October .
