Somerset County Council has published plans for a major overhaul of bus services in Somerset. It wants to increase evening and weekend services, add new routes, and create new ticket passes for young people and families. A bid for £100 million pounds of funding to support the plan has been submitted to the government

Ownership of Kilver Court in Shepton Mallet has reverted back to Showering’s family, who once occupied the site with their drinks business, including Babycham. The current owner, Roger Saul, has confirmed the sale to Showerings. Roger Saul, formerly the owner of the Mulberry fashion business, bought Kilver Court in 1996 as a head office for Mulberry and later converted it for retail.

A Sherborne motorist has appeared in court charged with driving a vehicle while under the influence of drugs. John Hydes of Admirals Close was fined £100 and banned from holding a driving licence for one year. He was fined a further £100 for driving a vehicle without insurance and a current MOT certificate.

Plans have been submitted to build a new skate park in the village of Ilton, near Ilminster. Space on the recreation ground, situated between a new housing development, has been earmarked for the skate park. Ilton Parish Council says it supports the government’s strategy of providing younger people with outdoor facilities to promote an active and physical lifestyle.

A group representing owners of Mercedes vehicles in Somerset have joined a national legal claim against the car manufacturer. It relates to misinformation issued around emissions standards on Mercedes cars made between 2008 and 2018. Mercedes deny the allegations.
