A drugs busting operation in the South West has resulted in two hundred arrests and the seizure of drugs with a value of £404,000. Operation Scorpion, involving all police forces in the region launched at the start of the month with the aim of disrupting the supply of drugs in local areas. Sixty-four people have so far been arrested by Avon and Somerset police as part of Operation Scorpion.

Carers in Somerset, who must use a car to do their jobs, are being pushed into poverty by higher petrol and diesel prices. That’s according to South Somerset Citizens Advice who say the situation has become so serious that some carers are no longer able to afford to fill up their cars for visiting clients.

People in Somerset who suffer from heart disease are being invited to take part in new medical research. The study, based at Musgrove Park Hospital, will investigate new ways of reducing cholesterol, and the longer-term benefits of lowering cholesterol levels.

Care workers in Somerset infected with Covid are being allowed to carry on working. Somerset County Council says vulnerable people in care homes would be at more risk from other illnesses if staff were not to work as normal.

Vulnerable people in Somerset can now book an additional Covid booster jab. Invitations are being sent to people aged seventy-five and over and those aged twelve and over who have a weakened immune system.

Yeovil Town are back in action tonight. They’re playing Bromley in a National League fixture at Huish Park. Kick-off is 7.45 pm.
