It’s been announced that a GP surgery Chard is to close. NHS Somerset has given no reason for the decision to shut Springmead Surgery on Summerfields Road or a date for when it will shut. The surgery is currently contacting patients about accessing healthcare services elsewhere in the town.
A Yeovil man has appeared in court charged with assault. Magistrates were told that David Porter of Lyde Road threatened his parents with a knife at their home in Crewkerne during a row about money. Porter pleaded guilty to assaulting William and Margaret Porter and was sentenced to 15 weeks in custody, suspended for 12 months. He was also banned from contacting his parents for 5-years.
A Somerset man has set himself the challenge of swimming the equivalent of the English Channel to raise funds for St Margaret's Hospice. Richard Elloway is planning to swim 70 lengths every day for six weeks to raise 3-and-a-half-thousand pounds as a thank-you to St Margaret's for looking after his wife.
