Local vehicle owners are being advised to check the date of their next MOT. The extension to MOT’s, brought on by the pandemic, finishes at the end of September. Local garages are reporting that bookings for MOT’s are running at record levels.

Plans to convert farming buildings into five homes at Maperton near Wincanton have been rejected by South Somerset District Council. The proposed site at Maperton Dairy Farm would have involved adapting buildings currently used to store hay and cattle. Local people had objected on the grounds the development would have been “out of keeping” with the village.

Motorists are being advised that the A37 Dorchester Road will be shut for resurfacing at the turnoff to Stoford for eight nights beginning next week. The closure will take effect from Thursday, September 9th to Friday, September 17th between 6 pm in the evening and 7.30 am the following morning.

A newly qualified children's nurse from Martock is in line for a national award. Hannah Graham has been shortlisted for an ‘Innovation in Service Award’ at the Student Nursing Times Awards for her work raising awareness of autism.

Members of the South Somerset Community Choir are in rehearsals for their first public performance since the start of the pandemic. The “Come and Sing” event will be held on September 13th at Crewkerne Methodist Church, in South Street, Crewkerne.
