Anyone in South Somerset who's booked a second Covid jab is being asked to change the appointment to an earlier date. The government wants to give more people a second dose before July 19th when it’s thought lockdown restrictions in England will be lifted.

Businesses in South Somerset are planning to offer staff the option to continue working from home post lockdown. In a survey, Somerset Chamber of Commerce says more than 60 percent of businesses intend to introduce home working. It comes as independent shops and cafes in South Somerset report increased takings thanks to more people working from home and shopping locally.

Police are seeking witnesses to an incident in a Yeovil pub in which a man suffered a punctured lung. The attack happened in the men's toilets at The Arrow pub, off Stourton Way, on Sunday, June 13th, at around 9 pm. Anyone who can help is asked to call the non-emergency number 101.

Fire has damaged the kitchen of a bungalow in Martock. It happened in Eastfield Close. The fire service says the cause was accidental.

Police are appealing for help in tracing a man who has gone missing from his home near Sherborne. Joseph Richards, who’s 34, was last seen leaving his home in Holwell at lunchtime on Monday. He’s described as six feet tall with a short beard and tattoos on his right arm. At the time he disappeared, he was driving a grey Volkswagen Passat estate with the registration LL 52 GKO.

Plans have been submitted to convert a tractor shed into a shop and cafe at the Somerset and Dorset Animal Rescue Centre in Common Lane, Wincanton. The charities also want to locate a shepherd’s hut at the Balsam Farm site to use for holiday accommodation.
