Somerset is experiencing a big increase in numbers of an insect more blood-thirsty than mosquitos. Entomologist, Dee Patel, says the Dracula Horsefly population has grown hugely during the hot weather and to them being resistant to most kinds of repellents.
A Somerset woman, campaigning for a change in the law, claims her mother’s mental health was impacted by not having family and friends visit her in her care home during Covid.
