Ninety-eight percent of children in Somerset applying for places at secondary schools have been given a place at one of their top three chosen secondary schools. The County Council says ninety-five percent of children have been given a place at their top choice of school. The County Council says it's dealt with the largest number of secondary school applications ever received.
A Somerset woman has started a national campaign to make sure NHS staff don't go hungry. Neely Mozowala, a specialist Diabetes Podiatrist, started an online baking group for medics after finding that NHS workers on the night shift were going hungry because of a lack of food provided within hospitals. She's now calling on the NHS to make sure that enough food is available 24-hours-a-day
in hospitals.
Organisers of ‘Live in Somerset’ say they're trying hard to find a replacement for Olly Murs. It follows the singer’s decision to withdraw from performing at the event due to a knee operation. Rag and Bone Man and Simply Red are booked to appear at ‘Live in Somerset’ in Vivary Park, in Taunton, in late August.
