Somerset Bus Partnership has welcomed a £24.7m boost for the county's bus services up to 2030. The multi-year settlement will be split between capital funding for new buses and bus stations, such as the proposed transport hub for Langport, and revenue funding for day-to-day operations, including capping bus ticket costs.
Somerset Council has granted outline planning permission to build up to 100 new homes in Ilminster. It follows Persimmon Homes' submission of a reserved matters application for 400 homes on land to the south-west of Canal Way. Persimmon has been granted Outline Planning for the first phase of the development, with a third of the new homes to be transferred to a social housing provider for local people.
An Ilminster man has been banned from keeping animals for seven years after leaving his cat without adequate care while he was away. Appearing before local magistrates, Adam Platt, of The Incline, in Ilminster, pleaded guilty to an animal welfare offence, following an investigation by the RSPCA. Alongside the disqualification, Platt was also fined £140 and ordered to pay £400 court costs.
