    Yeovil Town’s recently appointed new manager, Danny Webb, has resigned from the role after only one game in charge. Webb has given personal and family reasons for stepping down so suddenly. Yeovil Town says Richard Dryden will take charge of the First Team for the rest of the season.

    Workers at Leonardo Helicopters in Yeovil are threatening to walk out in a dispute over pay. Unite - the union representing employees at Leonardo sites across the UK - is balloting members on industrial action after rejecting a pay offer of 3.2 per cent. Leonardo says the offer is fair and competitive. News of the ballot follows the government’s announcement delaying an order for new medium lift helicopters for the RAF, a contract for which Leonardo is the sole bidder.

    Plans to build up to 765 new homes at Up Mudford on the outskirts of Yeovil could be halted by a judicial review. Somerset Council has given the Abbey Manor Group outline planning to build on land off Primrose Lane. But Mudford Parish Council is concerned the development could increase the local flood risk, and have applied for the planning consent to be reviewed in the High Court.

    Yeovil Hospital is taking part in a national study into vision loss. It’s investigating Wet Age Related Macular degeneration in eyes, where is early awareness is key to treating the problem.

    A woman from near Shepton Mallet has had her hair shaved for charity. Hil Harrison, who lives in Alhampton, was taking part in a sponsored hair shave, held at the Alhampton Inn, raising £2,000 for Guide Dogs.

    Forestry England says Somerset is likely to experience a dramatic and colourful display of leaves this autumn. It says this summer’s very warm weather has led to trees producing more sugar in their leaves, making them more colourful.
