A new group has been formed to challenge plans to build 100 new homes in Keinton Mandeville. Somerset Council granted outline permission for the scheme on the western edge of the village in June last year, despite strong local objections. The group, Stop Housing Obliterating the Character of Keinton, known as SHOCK, has launched a crowdfunding appeal to pay for a judicial review against the Council, which, if successful, could overturn the decision.
Bridgwater Town Council has voted to increase its share of the Council Tax by 5% percent from April. It means a typical Band D property will pay £432 a year to Bridgwater Town Council, a rise of around £20 on last year’s bill.
